Shanti means peace. That is the whole of it, and there is more in that than it sounds.

This recording is the Om Shanti mantra, one of the oldest and most widely used invocations of peace in the Vedic tradition. It is traditionally recited three times, an appeal for peace on every level at once: in the world around you, in the people around you, and in yourself.

Practitioners play it quietly and continuously through a home, a healing room or a workplace, and use it to keep the atmosphere of a space feeling calm and settled. It works equally well as a foreground practice, sat with for ten or fifteen minutes at the end of a difficult day.

No training or background is needed to use it. It suits anyone setting up a treatment room, anyone with a household that runs at pace, and anyone who finds silence harder to settle into than sound.
